Privacy Policy
Effective June 26, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Ben Roberts ("I," "me," or "we") handles information when you use benroberts.ai, subscribe to The Build Report, or use the B4 Index and B4 Pro (together, the "Services"). I keep data collection to what the Services actually need, and I don't sell your personal information.
Information I collect
- Email address. When you subscribe to The Build Report or unlock a category through the B4 Index, I collect the email you provide.
- Searches and queries. When you search the B4 Index — on the site, or through the MCP connector or API — I record the search text you enter, the categories that matched, and how strong the match was.
- The categories you're interested in. The categories you search or unlock are recorded, including as tags on your subscriber profile, so I can send you more relevant information and understand what readers care about.
- Usage and device data. Standard information your browser or client sends, such as IP address, browser or client type, referring page, pages viewed, and which B4 tools you call, collected through hosting logs, usage logs, and newsletter attribution.
- Account and billing data (B4 Pro). If and when you create a paid B4 Pro account, I (or my payment processor) collect the details needed to manage your subscription. Card numbers are handled by the processor, not stored by me.
How I use it
- To send The Build Report and the information you asked for.
- To tailor what I send based on the categories you're interested in.
- To operate, secure, and improve the Services, including improving the B4 Index's accuracy and coverage through the feedback loop described below.
- To respond to you and meet legal obligations.
The B4 Index feedback loop
The B4 Index improves itself from how it's used. When you search it — on the site, through the MCP connector, or through the API — I log the query and how the system responded: which categories matched, how confident each match was, and where nothing matched well. An automated feedback loop reads those signals to fix weak matches, surface gaps, and decide which categories to research and score next. This is part of how the Index stays accurate and current.
This loop runs on your queries and the system's results, to operate and improve the Services. I use this data in aggregate to make the Index better for everyone. I don't sell it, and I don't use it to build advertising profiles. If you'd prefer your queries not be retained, email me at the address below.
Service providers
I share information with a small set of providers that run the Services on my behalf, only as needed:
- Beehiiv — newsletter and email subscription management.
- Vercel — website hosting, serverless functions, and privacy-friendly, cookieless web analytics.
- Supabase — the database that stores the B4 Index and the usage logs behind the feedback loop.
- An AI model provider — when you run a semantic search, your query text is sent to an embedding provider to match it against the Index. It's used to serve your search, not to train that provider's models.
These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies. I don't sell your personal information, and I don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Cookies and tracking
The site uses limited cookies and similar technologies for basic functionality and to attribute newsletter signups. If you give your email at a category gate, I store a cookie on your device so you don't have to enter it again on later visits. Web analytics is privacy-friendly and cookieless. You can block cookies in your browser; some features, like skipping the email gate, may not work as well if you do.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe any time using the link in the footer of any email.
- Access, correct, or delete your information by emailing the address below.
- Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK under GDPR or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights to access, port, restrict, or delete your data, and to opt out of certain processing. I honor those requests where they apply.
Data retention
I keep your information for as long as you're subscribed or using the Services, and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal, security, and record-keeping needs. When you unsubscribe or ask for deletion, I remove or anonymize your data unless I'm required to keep it.
Security
I use reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and I can't guarantee absolute security.
Children
The Services are for adults and aren't directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where that's the relevant age). I don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
I may update this policy from time to time. When I do, I'll change the effective date above, and meaningful changes will be noted on this page.
